Julie Mitchell-Galloway- Artistic Director

LRAD, ARAD , AISTD, Examiner of the Royal Academy of Dance

On returning home from dancing, acting and teaching overseas Julie Mitchell set up the Edinburgh Dance Academy. The Academy now has studios throughout Edinburgh and East Lothian. Alongside regular classes in ballet, modern, jazz, tap and hip hop the Academy also has its own Company -  "Edinburgh Dance Company".

Julie Mitchell is an examiner for the Royal Academy of Dance and travels the world

lecturing and examining children and teachers alike.

Julie has also been a steadfast supporter of pupils who have chosen to pursue a career in teaching. Several, with her encouragement, tuition and support, now have their own dance schools in Edinburgh and beyond and continue to seek her advice.

Jenni Inglis - Assistant Artistic Director

Jenni Inglis joined EDA in 2004, being no stranger to us given that she trained here! Miss Inglis quickly became the heart and soul of the Modern and Tap disciplines in EDA and became Assistant Artistic Director in 2008. Miss Inglis has taken these disciplines, The Company and Performance Group to incredible levels, frequently at national competitions and her choreography and leadership have been on display at some of the UK's most prestigious venues.

Exam results are second to none.

Miss Inglis is much in demand for guest teaching and judging in Scotland and beyond and also plays a significant role at the SpecialistDance Unit at Broughton High School, in Edinburgh.

Miss Inglis' son, Lucas, is a much loved favourite of all at EDA.

Suzie Galloway - Commercial Director

There's no point in being recognised as having the most capable teaching faculty without  the the best customer service and business support to match! Suzie Galloway brought much to EDA when she began to supply the above to us when she joined in 2001. She brought the experience she had gained mostly in the hectic world of television and film production and applied it to the systems and procedures now used in EDA.

Her ability to juggle the myriad of issues outside (and sometimes within!) the artistic side leaves us all in awe yet she always seems to have the time to listen and give us her wise counsel, students, parents and staff alike! Everyone at EDA benefits hugely from her presence, skill and dedication.

Ellen West - Teacher

Ellen joined EDA in 2014. She trained in Glasgow before getting her teaching certificate from Edinburgh's Dance For All.

Before putting down roots in Edinburgh Ellen went off to fulfil a professional contract with P&O taking her dancing all over the world with cruise ships. Now back in Edinburgh she is very excited about her post at EDA.

Charlotte Jarvis - Teacher

Charlotte (Charly) Jarvis is a freelance dancer, choreographer, actress and teacher. She trained in classical ballet, and graduated from London Studio Centre in 2000. She joined Ballet Nurnberg, Germany and has worked with Director Daniela Kurz, and internationally acclaimed choreographers Stijin Celis and Jo Stomgren.

Now Edinburgh-based, Charlotte is a member of the Edinburgh theatre company Lazzi Experimental Unit, working with Director David Johnstone since 2006. Charlotte has been teaching ballet and contemporary technique extensively since 2002, in London and throughout Scotland.
